Follow Me and Catch People

Hi, welcome to our virtual coffee shop. Pull up a chair, take the load of your feet. Let’s chat.

So who are you, where you from, what do you do in life?
Bek from Parkes, Australia. I be mum, wife, study a Bmin, do church stuff…etc, etc.

Can I get you a drink? Cappucino, earl grey, dandelion and burdock, pale ale?
Hot Choc sound’s great!

Would you like a doughnut or pastry to go with that?
Yummy! Doughnut!

So, if you had to describe the church/project/experiment/thingy you are currently involved with in one sentence, what would that sentence be?
Connection Café… sort of sums it up. Connecting with average people who don’t do trad. Church. Focus on relationship with each other and God.

Are you an instigator? / new recruit? / have absolutely no recollection of how you got involved?
One of the ‘leaders’, and planners to get this thing up and running. Been a long time in coming!

What do you value most about being part of it?
Showing people who haven’t been to a church for a long time, that it isn’t Jesus who is scary, and hypocritical!

What excites you most about it?
That this is a whole new concept for our town, and we are on the verge of something big.

Has anyone ever turned up out of the blue not knowing what to expect?
What did they say? Yep. Asked some really good questions, and said they would be back!

Three words that describe your attitude to ‘being church’ in the big wide world:

Three words that DON’T:

You have this weird dream – you meet Jesus face to face.
Where does it happen, what does he say to you?

Walking on the sea shore. He say’s to me, “ You are used to doing life your way, how about you follow me, and well start catching some people together!”

What’s the big secret you’re itching to share with everyone?
We are very new at this. Need some creative ideas of how to go about it!

What would your ’emerging church survival kit’ contain?
People! A café, fun, a bible, and decent music!

Anything else you’d like to share with us before you have to rush off?
Sound’s like you have a lot of fun with life!

Thanks. Good to see you, have a good day!
