Eric is cooking to night
Hi, welcome to our virtual coffee shop. Pull up a chair, take the load of your feet. Let’s chat.
Sounds good, by the way, nice haircut.
So who are you, where you from, what do you do in life?
Eric, birmingham, al, graphic designer.
Can I get you a drink? Cappucino, earl grey, dandelion and burdock, pale ale?
A wheat ale would be great.
Would you like a doughnut or pastry to go with that?
Custard filled doughnut please.
So, if you had to describe the church/project/experiment/thingy you are currently involved with in one sentence, what would that sentence be?
A small close-knit group who can eat together and fellowship in our own way rather than the way “the church” tried to tell us while growing up.
Are you an instigator? / new recruit? / have absolutely no recollection of how you got involved?
What do you value most about being part of it?
True fellowship without rules.
What excites you most about it?
Learning i am not the only one with my troubles.
Has anyone ever turned up out of the blue not knowing what to expect?
What did they say?
Yes, “are we seriously cooking dinner?”.
Three words that describe your attitude to ‘being church’ in the big wide world: Fellowship, forgiveness, acceptance.
Three words that DON’T:
Judgement, sunday school.
You have this weird dream – you meet Jesus face to face.
Where does it happen, what does he say to you?
Walking to my car, “be still”.
What’s the big secret you’re itching to share with everyone?
President Bush isn’t the anti-christ.
What would your ’emerging church survival kit’ contain?
Sufjan Stevens music, the bible and a portable dvd player (with infinite battery life) with Rob Bell’s Nooma Videos.
Anything else you’d like to share with us before you have to rush off?
I like the smell of darkrooms…other than that, i think its all covered.
Thanks. Good to see you. Have a good day!
