Since our launch in 2003 emergingchurch.info has grown to include over 100 unique stories and reflections with more added every month - so where do you start if you're here for the first time? This then is a constantly evolving collection of recommended stories and reflections for if you're wanting to get a quick picture of what the emerging church is all about. Hi, my name’s Ashley and if church is that place with a steeple or a big carved pulpit then no…I haven’t been to church lately. On the contrary, I see church as less of a place to go to than it is something to be. Church isn’t necessarily all about stained glass windows, a “worship” team and shiny polished wooden pews for me. Urban Nights – Church on the streets

The Urban Nights projects started in October 2004 when Oxygen workers and members of Christchurch New Malden responded to the situation where gangs of young people were hanging around using the small garden at the side of the church in an evening. These young people were the troublesome local young people, known for graffiti and anti social behaviour. However rather than seeing their presence as a problem some of the workers saw it is an opportunity to get to know the young people, thus urban nights was born.
